is a civil engineering firm seeking to hire a Bridge and Ancillary Structures Inspector with expertise as a Team Leader , to join our team in DC. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting bridges, culverts, retaining walls, sign structures, and other ancillary structures, preparing and reviewing inspection reports of various structures across Virginia, Maryland, and DC . The candidate will work with multidisciplinary teams. By joining our team, you will enjoy the benefits of our strong track record with over 1,000 successful projects, and leadership in major contracts across the U.S. Key Responsibilities Lead and conduct routine and in-depth inspections on various bridges, from culverts to complex bridges, and ancillary structures (signs, light poles, traffic signals). Lead and guide inspection team members, ensuring industry and regulatory standards. Document inspection findings, prepare detailed reports for condition assessments, and provide repair recommendations. Review previous inspection reports. Perform load ratings, structural evaluations, and material testing as required. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, such as NBIS, AASHTO, and FHWA standards and specifications. Follow all safety protocols and procedures while conducting inspections in field environments. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Qualifications Required Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge inspection, including team leadership experience. PE license and/or NHI Bridge Inspection Certification preferred. Successfully completed a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved 80-hour Bridge Inspection Course. Successfully completed a FHWA-approved Ancillary Highway Structures Inspection and Maintenance Course. Strong knowledge of DOT standards and FHWA regulations. Strong understanding of structural materials, deterioration mechanisms, and maintenance strategies. Ability to work in field conditions, including elevated structures and confined spaces in highway structure inspections (including bridges) in a responsible capacity. Valid driver's license with a good driving record, and willingness to travel to inspection sites. Site Inspections skills, Quality Control, and Construction Management abilities. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong English language proficiency, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks effectively.
