A Transportation Traffic Controller monitors vehicle movement at airports, seaports, rail yards and stations, and large distribution centers. Monitors the takeoff and landing routes and schedules for airplanes at a commercial airport or military airbase. Coordinates the movement of large merchant vessels or cruise ships in and out of port.

Job Description

Complete assigned traffic control tasks which include but are not limited to driving a Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA), cone truck, or other support vehicle to specified locations, assist in setting up/taking down lane closures on state highways or other roadways per TXDOT guidelines to provide protection from traffic. Operate a variety of light and heavy equipment involved in construction and maintenance projects. Performs preventive maintenance inspections, routine servicing on equipment. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. Safety and awareness are very important aspects of this position.
REQUIREMENTS
Traffic Control experience and/or operating heavy equipment is
PREFERED
Candidates must possess good knowledge of state and local roadways and have experience with operating large vehicles of varying sizes Must be able to work DAY or
OVERNIGHT
shifts/WEEKENDS as project demands MUST be in good physical condition with the ability to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds, and be able to stand for long periods of time outside in high/low temperatures. Flagger or TCT certification is a PLUS!
