Management / Hands-On Operations About Us Certified Performance Motors and Certified Automotive Group are high-volume used vehicle dealerships serving Nassau County, New York. We are looking for an experienced, reliable, highly organized, and hands-on Lot Manager to oversee the lot operations, porter staff, vehicle organization, and overall physical appearance of both dealership locations . This is an important management position. The Lot Manager will be responsible not only for vehicles and lot organization, but also for managing, hiring, training, and scheduling all porters working under them at both dealerships . We need someone who takes ownership and makes sure both dealerships are maintained at a top-notch level every day. Position Overview The Lot Manager will oversee the day-to-day lot operations for both Certified Performance Motors in Valley Stream and Certified Automotive Group in Hempstead. You will be responsible for making sure our inventory is organized, vehicles can be located immediately, porters are properly scheduled and productive, and both dealership properties are clean, organized, professional, and ready for customers at all times. You will work directly with dealership management and coordinate with sales, service, reconditioning, photography, transportation, and other departments. This is a hands-on management position . The right candidate must be willing to manage the team while also stepping in and getting the job done whenever necessary. Management Responsibilities The Lot Manager will have direct responsibility for the porter/lot staff at both locations, including: Manage and supervise all porters and lot attendants at both dealerships Recruit, interview, and assist with hiring new porters as needed Train new porters and establish clear job responsibilities and expectations Create and maintain weekly employee schedules Ensure proper staffing coverage at both locations Manage weekend coverage, days off, call-outs, and schedule changes Assign daily responsibilities to each porter Monitor employee productivity and job performance Make sure assigned tasks are completed properly and on time Hold staff accountable for cleanliness, vehicle movement, organization, and assigned responsibilities Identify when additional staffing is required and communicate hiring needs to management Report attendance, performance, or disciplinary issues to dealership management Make sure the porter team works together efficiently across both dealerships Lot & Inventory Responsibilities Maintain complete organization of vehicle inventory at both dealerships Know where vehicles are located and ensure inventory locations are accurate Conduct regular physical lot audits Identify missing, misplaced, blocked, or incorrectly parked vehicles immediately Organize and park inventory professionally Maximize available lot space while maintaining safe vehicle access Stage vehicles for customer appointments and test drives Stage sold vehicles for customer deliveries Coordinate vehicles going to and returning from service and reconditioning Coordinate vehicles requiring photography Make sure vehicles scheduled for photography are clean and ready Coordinate incoming and outgoing vehicle transportation Receive arriving inventory and ensure vehicles are properly accounted for and parked Assist with dealer trades and vehicle movement between locations Ensure vehicles are properly tagged Maintain dealership key organization and key-control procedures Fuel vehicles when required Check tire pressure when necessary Identify dead batteries, flat tires, warning lights, damage, or other obvious vehicle issues Immediately report vehicle damage or inventory discrepancies to management Property & Building Responsibility The Lot Manager is responsible for making sure both dealerships are kept in top-notch condition every day.
This includes:
Maintaining clean and professional dealership lots Making sure both buildings and exterior areas are presentable Keeping dealership entrances clean and organized Maintaining sidewalks and customer-facing areas Making sure garbage and debris are removed Ensuring parking areas remain clean and organized Making sure customer parking is clearly available and not blocked by inventory Monitoring signage, flags, banners, lighting, and exterior presentation Identifying maintenance or property issues and reporting them immediately Making sure snow, ice, leaves, or other seasonal conditions are addressed Ensuring vehicles displayed at the front of each dealership are clean and properly presented Making sure both dealerships are ready for customers before business begins each day The expectation is simple: both locations should look professional, organized, clean, and ready for business at all times. Daily Operations The Lot Manager will communicate with dealership management throughout the day and make sure priorities are handled immediately.

Customer appointments Vehicle deliveries Test drives Reconditioning Service Vehicle photography Transportation Dealer trades Inventory transfers between locations Incoming inventory Sold vehicles Vehicle fueling Lot organization Building and property cleanliness A salesperson or manager should never have to spend excessive time looking for a vehicle or waiting because a vehicle was not properly staged. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Has leadership and management ability Takes ownership of the operation Is extremely organized Is dependable and punctual Can manage employees and hold them accountable Can create and manage employee schedules Is comfortable interviewing and hiring employees Can manage multiple priorities at two busy dealership locations Notices problems before management has to point them out Understands the importance of dealership presentation Can communicate effectively with management, salespeople, service personnel, vendors, drivers, and employees Is willing to work hands-on alongside the team when necessary Does not need constant supervision or reminders Takes pride in keeping the dealerships operating at a high level Requirements Valid driver's license Clean and acceptable driving record Ability to safely operate a wide variety of vehicles Ability to travel between our Valley Stream and Hempstead locations as required Previous dealership, automotive lot, inventory, porter management, rental car, auction, valet, or automotive logistics experience strongly preferred Previous supervisory or management experience preferred Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles is a plus Ability to work outdoors throughout the year Ability to walk and stand for extended periods Comfortable using a smartphone and basic dealership technology Must be available to work weekends Must be reliable and consistently report to work on time English required; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Compensation Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
