Job Description

Experienced Paratransit Van Driver — Sacramento $21.00 - $26.50 per hour, based on experience Full-time

Paid :

semi-monthly

Location:

8185 Belvedere Ave, Sacramento, CA 95826 About the role SEC Transportation — North provides non-emergency transportation for adults with developmental disabilities in the Sacramento region. Our drivers get people to their day programs safely and on time. This is steady, route-based work with a consistent group of riders. You will see the same passengers each day, and they will know your name. The drivers who build long careers here are the ones who value that relationship. We are hiring 3-5 experienced drivers now. Schedule — please read this part carefully This is a split shift, Monday through Friday. We'd rather tell you now than have you find out in week two: Morning route: start between 6:30-7:00 AM, finish between 8:30-10:00 AM Midday break: unpaid, typically 2.5-4 hours — your time Afternoon route: start between 12:30-2:00 PM, finish between 3:30-6:00 PM Exact start and end times depend on your assigned route and stay consistent once you're placed. A split shift isn't for everyone. It works well for drivers who want their mornings and afternoons committed but their middays free — parents with school-age kids, students, semi-retired drivers, or anyone with a standing midday commitment. If you need eight straight hours, this isn't the right fit and we'd rather you know before you apply. What you'll do Operate a company van on a fixed daily route in the Sacramento area Safely load, secure, and unload passengers, including passengers using wheelchairs and other mobility devices Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections Maintain accurate trip records and communicate with dispatch throughout the day Follow all DMV and regional center safety requirements Treat every rider with patience and respect — every single trip What we require 1+ year of professional experience driving passengers (paratransit, NEMT, school bus, shuttle, transit, or medical transport) Valid California Class C driver's license Clean driving record — we will review your DMV H6 printout (3-year history) At least 21 years of age Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and DOJ/FBI background clearance Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist passengers with mobility devices Willingness to complete VDDP certification after hire — we provide the opportunity for you to receive it through the California Highway Patrol. While preferred, you do not need it before you apply Preferred — paratransit background Paratransit experience is strongly preferred. Here's the type of experience and certification were looking for: NEMT, regional center, or medical transport experience Wheelchair securement and lift operation experience Experience working with adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities Current First Aid / CPR certification Passenger Service and Safety (PASS) or similar training VDDP certification What we offer $21.00 - $26.50/hour, set by your actual experience — not a starting wage with a vague promise Kaiser Permanente health coverage 401(k) retirement plan with company match Consistent full-time hours on a fixed route with the same riders Paid semi-monthly Company vehicle — you are not putting miles on your own car Paid VDDP certification and ongoing safety training A stable operation where dispatch knows your name and answers the phone How to apply Apply through Indeed. You'll hear from us — we call every qualified applicant within one business day, and we mean it. SEC Transportation — North is an equal opportunity employer
