Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-PACU Job Type Travel Step into a vital role caring for pediatric patients in a dynamic PACU setting within a busy academic medical center. This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced travel nurses ready to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The unit features 20 bays and serves an average daily census of 30-40, with the majority of patients ranging from newborn through 17 years old, primarily post-surgical.
Schedule/Hours:
Full-time contract assignment Must be open to varied shifts as required by patient census
Qualifications & Experience:
Current RN license with at least 1 year of pediatric critical care experience (2 years preferred) Previous travel assignment required (not accepting first-time travelers)
Certifications:
BLS and PALS required Experience with post-op pediatric care, telemetry monitoring, and handling common ICU drips such as heparin, insulin, and occasional cardiac gtts Comfort navigating limited use of BiPAP support in a post-op setting Familiarity with Epic (EMR), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems Strong sense of teamwork and resourcefulness, comfortable working in an open-bay, high-acuity environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in the PACU for pediatric patients, with occasional adult cases if needed Monitor and manage post-surgical patients, including telemetry and medication infusions Collaborate closely with support staff: transporters, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, and PACU educator Communicate effectively within an "all hands on deck" team dynamic Complete thorough documentation and stay vigilant in a busy academic and trauma-designated hospital
