Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Travel Discover the charm of Elm Creek, NE while advancing your nursing expertise in a supportive and dynamic healthcare environment. This travel assignment offers you the chance to experience Nebraska's welcoming Midwest culture, with opportunities to explore scenic parks, engaging local events, and nearby attractions during your downtime—an ideal way to blend professional development with memorable adventures. This position places you in a progressive care unit (PCU) serving a diverse adult patient population, predominantly Hispanic and Somalian, allowing you to expand your clinical skills and cultural competence. Working nights in a busy medical center exposes you to a variety of leadership styles and best practices, further strengthening your professional toolkit and enhancing your career trajectory.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts (18:30-06:30) 36 hours per week guaranteed Every other weekend; minimum of two holidays per contract
Qualifications:
Active RN license Minimum 2 years of recent step-down/PCU experience
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
(required at submission) Competency with arterial lines, titration of critical drips (e.g., heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem), and reading/interpreting tele strips Ability to troubleshoot high-flow respiratory equipment Team-focused, adaptable, and skilled in clear communication
Responsibilities:
Deliver evidence-based care to patients with cardiac, vascular, renal, oncology, and respiratory diagnoses Manage and titrate various drips, monitor cardiac rhythms, and independently interpret telemetry Respond quickly to patient needs; uphold high standards for patient satisfaction and safety Flex to MedSurg or ICU as needed, delivering the same high caliber of care expected in the PCU Collaborate with charge nurses, techs, and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes Participate actively in orientation and ongoing skill assessments—including an open-book competency exam during onboarding
