1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center hospital in Shelby, NC, requiring a minimum of 18 months PCU experience and an active NC or compact RN license. Details 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital in Shelby, NC Patient population includes a wide range of non-mechanically ventilated patients: CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infections, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, and more Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 depending on acuity 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week Every other weekend rotation required No on-call responsibilities Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per regional needs — candidates not willing to float to all listed facilities should not applyEMR:
Epic; IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and nurses station Requirements Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year Proficiency with tracheostomy care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management Epic EMR experience At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted Must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before being eligible Department support includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist, and 24/7 intensivist coverage; unit receptionist/HUC is available on day shift only Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed must be made up by extending the contract Schedule is published on a 6-week cycle Required scrub color: navy Free parking is available on site Unit culture is described as family-orientedSimilar remote jobs
