Paul's Schools is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time Upper School Spanish Teacher at St. Paul's School for Girls starting August 17, 2026. School Overview The St. Paul's Schools is a family of independent schools in Baltimore County, Maryland. Serving children from infancy through grade 12, our three schools share a 120-acre campus, an Episcopal tradition, and a focus on developing confident, well-balanced students who will use their education and ethics to improve the world. A coordinated structure allows The St. Paul's Schools to preserve the small-school feel within each school while sharing resources and certain programs to maximize opportunities for students.

Position Description We are seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher who brings energy, clarity, and purpose to language learning. We are looking for an educator who believes that learning Spanish is not only about grammar and vocabulary, but also about communication, cultural understanding, and confidence . In an all-girls environment, we value teachers who know how to engage students actively, build strong relationships, and create classrooms where students are challenged to think globally and express themselves authentically. The Role at a Glance The Upper School Spanish Teacher will:
  • Teach Spanish courses in grades [9-12], aligned with departmental goals and student needs
  • Design lessons that emphasize communication, comprehension, and cultural literacy
  • Create a classroom environment that encourages participation, risk-taking, and growth
  • Use varied assessment strategies to measure progress and support proficiency
  • Support students as learners by meeting them where they are and guiding them toward becoming effective communicators. What Learning Looks Like in Our Spanish Classrooms Students are encouraged to:
  • Speak early and often, even when it feels uncomfortable
  • Engage with authentic texts, media, and real-world contexts
  • Make meaningful connections between language and cultures
  • Collaborate, problem-solve, and reflect on their learning while honoring a growth mindset.
  • Build confidence through consistent practice and clear expectations Candidates with bachelor's degree and native or near-native fluency required.
Candidates with a master's degree and/or ability to also teach French are preferred. In addition to contributing to the conversations and goals of the world language department, candidates should also be eager to contribute to our school-wide goals: providing rigorous, relevant, and responsive, student-centered instruction that meets the needs of a range of students; developing a multicultural curriculum; and integrating technology as it facilitates learning. The St. Paul's Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $50,000 to $70,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown.
