Job Description

Role Objective The Used Car Technician inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and reconditions pre-owned vehicles to meet dealership quality and safety standards. This role is responsible for ensuring used inventory is retail-ready through accurate repairs, timely service, and thorough inspections. Key Responsibilities Perform multi-point inspections on used vehicles to identify mechanical, safety, and cosmetic needs. Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems. Perform maintenance services including oil changes, fluid services, filters, batteries, belts, and tune-ups. Troubleshoot warning lights, drivability concerns, and check engine issues using diagnostic equipment. Complete used car reconditioning work to prepare vehicles for sale. Identify and recommend repairs needed to meet safety and dealership standards. Perform road tests before and after repairs to verify proper operation. Use scan tools, diagnostic software, and service manuals efficiently. Maintain accurate repair orders, technician notes, and inspection records. Communicate repair findings, parts needs, and completion timelines to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times. Assist with shop equipment maintenance and proper tool care. Meet productivity and quality standards while minimizing comebacks. Qualifications Previous automotive technician experience required. Used car reconditioning experience preferred. Strong knowledge of domestic and import vehicles. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues accurately. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Own tools preferred. ASE certifications preferred but not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
