The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily yard operations to ensure safe, efficient handling, storage, and delivery of materials. This role leads yard personnel, coordinates workflow with dispatch and operations teams, and ensures a high level of accuracy and customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and is committed to safety, organization, and team performance. What you'll do: Supervise daily loading, unloading, staging, and storage of materials Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams to prioritize workloads and schedule deliveries Ensure accurate, complete, and properly secured loads before leaving the yard Maintain an organized yard layout to support efficient traffic flow and material handling Assist customers and drivers with material selection, loading, and issue resolution as needed Lead, assign, and oversee daily tasks for yard staff, forklift operators, and drivers Train team members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and company standards Monitor performance, provide coaching, and support employee development Communicate operational updates, issues, and priorities to management Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of equipment Identify hazards and address unsafe conditions proactively Investigate and report incidents, accidents, or near misses Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts and stock organization Monitor material quality, shortages, and discrepancies Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and report issues as needed Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations What you'll bring: Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Problem-solving and decision-making skills Commitment to safety and operational excellence Experience in yard operations, warehouse, or building materials environments Prior supervisory or team lead experience Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification Familiarity with construction or building materials products Comfortability with performing work primarily in an outdoor yard environment Comfortability with exposure to varying weather conditions, equipment, and materials Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift Ability to lift and move materials (50+ lbs with assistance as needed) Operation of forklifts and other yard equipment Ability to work extended hours based on business needs What you'll earn: Health Care Benefits 401(k) with employer match Paid Time Off Benefits for union‑represented roles are determined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and may differ from standard company benefits. Salary Range:
USD $26.00 - USD $36.00 /Hr.
