Job Description

Insurance Operations Specialist Full-time, hourly | $35.00-$42.00 per hour Los Angeles or New York-based preferred, open to remote The Role We are looking for an organized, proactive Insurance Operations Specialist to help build and manage BeSound's insurance operations. The right candidate will support and coordinate internal work related to payer enrollment, credentialing, eligibility and benefits workflows, and insurance documentation across BeSound's markets. You will work closely with the clinical, patient care, operations, and finance teams, along with external billing, credentialing, and revenue-cycle partners, to help create a clear and consistent insurance experience for patients. This is a hands-on operations role for someone who understands how health insurance works and enjoys bringing order to complicated processes. Credentialing and payer enrollment are an important part of the role, but the work is broader: building the systems, follow-through, and cross-functional coordination that make insurance work well for both patients and the team. We look forward to hearing from you! Please share a cover letter as to why you would be a great fit for this role. Applications without will not be reviewed. What You'll Do Coordinate and maintain payer enrollment, credentialing, recredentialing, and required updates for BeSound's clinical entities, physicians, and locations across markets, working with external credentialing and revenue-cycle partners as needed. Maintain accurate records of payer participation, credentialing requirements, effective dates, provider information, and open action items. Build and maintain workflows for eligibility and benefits review, network status, referrals, prior authorization requirements, and patient financial responsibility. Partner with the patient care, clinical, and operations teams to ensure insurance information, patient demographics, orders, and supporting documentation are complete and accurate. Review insurance and revenue-cycle reporting to identify recurring issues with eligibility, documentation, denials, payer requirements, or scheduling. Help turn those findings into practical improvements for the team. Communicate with payer representatives, credentialing contacts, physicians, and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and thoughtfully. Partner to create straightforward SOPs, training materials, trackers, and communication tools that support consistent insurance workflows across locations and markets. Help patients and internal teams navigate insurance-related questions with clarity, warmth, and good judgment. Support broader operations and administrative needs as BeSound grows. What You Bring 3+ years of experience in healthcare operations, insurance verification, revenue-cycle coordination, medical-practice administration, or a related role. Experience coordinating provider credentialing, payer enrollment, recredentialing, or payer updates is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of commercial insurance, eligibility and benefits verification, prior authorizations, payer enrollment, and the documentation required for clean claims, including the ability to navigate varying payer requirements across states and markets. Experience in outpatient imaging, radiology, women's health, or a multi-location medical practice is strongly preferred. Experience managing or partnering with an external billing or revenue-cycle vendor, including implementation, workflow design, reporting, and issue resolution, is strongly preferred. Experience with medical-billing, EHR, practice-management, or revenue-cycle platforms is a plus. Excellent organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage sensitive information and multiple workstreams accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A warm, proactive, relationship-oriented working style. You are comfortable picking up the phone, following through, and helping people find a path forward. Comfort working in a growing company where systems are still being built and improved. Commitment to patient privacy and careful handling of protected health information. What Success Looks Like Payer enrollment, credentialing status, and required updates are organized, current, and proactively managed across BeSound's markets. BeSound's locations and clinical teams have clear, reliable insurance workflows. Eligibility, documentation, and payer issues are identified early, before they become avoidable patient or billing problems. Billing, credentialing, and revenue-cycle partners receive complete, accurate information and have a responsive internal counterpart. Patients receive clear, thoughtful communication about their insurance and financial responsibility.
