Job Description

Medical Billing & Collections Location:
Great Neck, NY Pay:
Up to $70,000 per year, based on experience
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Fridays typically end around 3:00 PM, with additional hours made up Monday through Thursday. HumanHire is partnered with a well-established specialty medical practice seeking an experienced Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to join their team in Great Neck, NY. This is a hands-on billing role focused on full-cycle medical billing, insurance follow-up, denials, appeals, and collections. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical billing operations, professional communication skills, and a consistent track record of reliability and long-term commitment. Out-of-network billing experience is strongly preferred, and candidates with backgrounds in plastic surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, urology, or other medical specialties are encouraged to apply. This is an individual contributor position with potential for future advancement as the practice continues to grow. Compensation & Benefits Salary up to $70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications Medical insurance with 100% of the individual employee premium covered Option to add spouse or family coverage at the employee's expense Two weeks of vacation plus one week of sick and personal time Annual merit and cost-of-living increases Performance-based year-end bonus Monday through Friday schedule with no regularly scheduled nights or weekends Professional office environment with potential for future career advancement Responsibilities Manage the full medical billing cycle, from claim submission through payment collection. Perform insurance follow-up, account research, and outstanding balance resolution. Review and resolve claim denials, appeals, and billing discrepancies. Handle patient and insurance collections while maintaining professional communication. Manage out-of-network billing processes and reimbursement-related issues. Support No Surprises Act compliance and Independent Dispute Resolution processes when applicable. Maintain accurate billing records and take ownership of assigned accounts and responsibilities. Collaborate with internal teams to improve billing accuracy and revenue collection. Qualifications Hands-on experience with medical billing and collections. Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle, including insurance follow-up, denials, appeals, and collections. Out-of-network medical billing experience strongly preferred. Experience with the No Surprises Act and IDR processes is a major plus. Background in plastic surgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, urology, or another medical specialty. Approximately 5-10 years of experience preferred, though overall knowledge and capability will be considered. Strong professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
