At NMP, we specialize in internal medicine/adult primary care, obesity medicine, and hormone replacement for men and women. We need coverage during Physician's planned time away for continuing medical education courses and professional conferences.
Duties will include coverage for:
  • Hospitalizations or emergency department visits, including patient advocacy and coordination of care
  • Urgent or same-day medical concerns
  • Acute illness requires clinical evaluation
  • Home visits when clinically appropriate
  • Follow-up care when a patient cannot easily come to the office
  • Coordination with hospitals, specialists, emergency departments, and other healthcare providers
  • Communication with patients and their families during significant medical events
  • Review of hospital and specialist recommendations and coordination of follow-up care The Role Is About More Than Coverage We are looking for someone who can step into the Northeast Medical Practice environment and provide the same personalized, thoughtful, and relationship-based care our patients receive from our doctor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clinical Care Provide clinical coverage for established NMP patients during designated coverage periods. Evaluate patients presenting with acute illnesses and medical concerns. Manage appropriate chronic medical conditions within scope of practice. Perform histories, physical examinations, assessments, and treatment planning. Order and review appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing. Prescribe medications and treatments within applicable scope of practice. Provide patient education and appropriate follow-up. Recognize conditions requiring emergency or specialty care and make appropriate referrals. Patient Advocacy Provide clinical support to NMP patients requiring emergency department or hospital care. When appropriate and feasible, communicate with or visit patients in the ED or hospital. Communicate with hospitalists, emergency physicians, specialists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. Help patients and families understand treatment recommendations and next steps. Assist with coordination of care and transitions following hospitalization. Communicate significant clinical developments to Dr. Berger according to established practice procedures. Home Visits Perform home visits when clinically appropriate and agreed upon. Evaluate patients who are unable to attend the office because of acute illness or other circumstances. Determine whether patients can appropriately be managed at home or require a higher level of care. Coordinate appropriate follow-up following home-based evaluation.
Note:
all care will be supervised remotely by Physician via phone, text, or email. Dr. Berger will be available to discuss medical cases within the constraints of his travel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current, unrestricted New York State NP license, as applicable. Appropriate national certification. Current BLS certification. DEA registration, when applicable to prescribing responsibilities. Minimum 5 years of clinical experience preferred . Strong experience in adult primary care, internal medicine, or a related specialty. Demonstrated clinical judgment and ability to recognize when escalation of care is necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, families, physicians, specialists, and hospital personnel. Ability to perform local home visits when required. Appropriate professional liability/malpractice coverage. Reliable transportation for local patient visits and hospital/ED coverage when needed.

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable: Internal Medicine Primary Care Concierge Medicine Hospital Medicine Emergency Medicine Geriatrics Preventive Medicine Lifestyle Medicine Obesity/Weight Management Metabolic Health Longevity Medicine Hormone replacement therapy for men & women
Compensation:
  • Daily "Standby"
Retainer:
$100 - $200 per day
    Active Clinical Rate:
    $85 - $110 per hour (when clinician is physically with a patient or documenting the encounter).
      House Call Stipend:
      Active Clinical rate +$50 flat compensation for transportation to home visit.
