This position is responsible for patient reception, surgical scheduling, insurance verification, authorization coordination, and providing excellent customer service throughout the patient experience. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Greet and assist patients, families, physicians, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments and procedures, and provide patients with necessary information and instructions. Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to scheduled procedures. Obtain and document insurance information, authorizations, referrals, and pre-certification requirements. Coordinate surgical schedules with patients, physicians' offices, anesthesia, and clinical staff. Confirm upcoming procedures and communicate scheduling changes, cancellations, and required instructions. Collect copayments, deductibles, deposits, and other patient payments according to facility policy. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record. Identify and resolve scheduling, insurance, or registration issues and escalate concerns when appropriate. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and assist with creating a positive experience before and after their procedure. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous healthcare front-office, medical scheduling, insurance verification, or patient registration experience, at least 3 years minimum preferred. Experience in an ambulatory surgery center, outpatient facility, physician office, or hospital preferred. Knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and prior authorizations, at least 3 years minimum preferred. Strong computer, organizational, communication, and customer-service skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.
