We specialize in commercial architecture, interior renovations, adaptive reuse, automotive, multifamily, office, retail, hospitality and mixed-use projects. We are a close-knit office where collaboration, mentorship, and shared creativity happen in person, every day. We believe the best projects come from strong communication, accountability, teamwork and consistent execution. Who You Are Torch Architecture is seeking a highly technical architectural professional who enjoys solving problems, coordinating complex projects, and producing high-quality construction documents. This role is focused on technical leadership rather than project management. Responsibilities Project Technical Leadership
  • Lead the technical development of architectural projects from design through construction documents
  • Coordinate technical decisions across architectural and engineering consultant disciplines
  • Resolve complex technical design issues and building system conflicts
  • Participate in project planning, milestone reviews, and schedule coordination Construction Documents & Specifications
  • Develop and manage comprehensive construction document sets with a focus on accuracy, coordination, and completeness
  • Author and maintain project specifications in alignment with design intent and code requirements
  • Review project documentation for completeness, coordination, and quality prior to milestone submissions Permitting & Compliance
  • Coordinate permitting requirements and ensure documents meet applicable building code and jurisdictional standards
  • Communicate with reviewing authorities as needed to support permit approvals Quality Control
  • Lead technical quality control reviews at key project milestones
  • Review the work of project team members to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to office standards
  • Assist in developing and maintaining office-wide technical standards and best practices Team Collaboration & Mentorship
  • Mentor and support the professional development of junior technical staff
  • Collaborate with and provide technical support to Project Managers and Principals
  • Support project teams during bidding and construction administration phases Qualifications & Competencies
  • 5+ years commercial architecture firm experience with a demonstrated ability to work within project teams
  • Strong consultant coordination experience
  • Strong Revit proficiency
  • Construction document experience
  • Commercial project experience
  • Building code knowledge
  • Highly detail-oriented with a methodical, thorough approach to technical work
  • Architectural license preferred but not required Work Environment
  • Full-time
  • In-office position located in Naperville, Illinois

Compensation:
$75,000 - $90,000
  • The salary range provided is a general guideline. Final compensation will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and overall alignment with the role and company needs.
