Job Title:
Carpenter Job Description This role involves supporting residential and commercial construction projects through general labor and carpentry work. You will help move materials around job sites, assist siding crews, and contribute to the installation of roofing, exterior wall panels, and cladding systems. The position requires the ability to follow construction documents, work under direct supervision, and efficiently complete tasks from project start to finish. Responsibilities Perform general labor tasks on residential and commercial construction sites, including moving and organizing materials and product around the job site. Assist siding crews with installation of siding, exterior wall paneling systems, and cladding components as directed. Support the installation and handling of metal roofing systems and architectural sheet metal components, where applicable. Read and interpret construction documents such as blueprints and specifications to understand project requirements and tasks. Work under direct supervision, following instructions accurately and maintaining productivity from project start through completion. Operate power tools safely and effectively for carpentry and general construction tasks. Assist with loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are staged appropriately for crews. Use forklifts or other material-handling equipment when needed and when properly trained and authorized. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on large residential and commercial construction sites. Travel to Big Sky work sites as required and reliably report to assigned locations on time. Essential Skills Minimum of 4 years of experience as a residential or commercial carpenter for higher pay consideration. Hands-on experience in construction and carpentry, with familiarity in commercial construction environments. Ability to read and clearly understand construction documents, including blueprints and specifications. Capability to work under direct supervision and follow instructions while maintaining efficiency and quality. General labor skills, including material handling, loading, and site clean-up. Proficient use of power tools commonly used in carpentry and construction. Willingness and ability to travel to Big Sky for work as part of regular job duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Carpentry and siding experience is a strong plus. Knowledge of metal roofing systems, exterior wall paneling systems, and cladding components is highly desirable. Architectural sheet metal experience is a significant advantage. Experience working on large residential and commercial construction sites. Comfort operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment, where properly trained. Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to contribute positively to a growing construction team. Work Environment You will work primarily on large residential and commercial construction sites, supporting active building projects in Montana, including regular work in Big Sky. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with daily exposure to outdoor conditions and varied weather. You will use standard construction tools and power equipment, and may work around forklifts and other material-handling machinery. Work is typically performed in a field construction setting, requiring appropriate safety gear and adherence to site safety protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belgrade, MT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
