Job Description

Market & Johnson is seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth by winning work and building strategic client relationships in the St. Croix Valley and East Metro markets. Are you a sales professional who is persistent, and motivated by results—someone who thrives on prospecting, earning trust, and positioning Market & Johnson as the general contractor of choice. You will be responsible for creating demand, influencing decisions early, and converting opportunities from hard bid to negotiated work through disciplined sales activity, strong relationship building, and strategic market presence. If you are known in your community, enjoy opening doors, and take pride in outworking the competition to secure projects, this role offers the opportunity to make a visible, lasting impact with a successful community minded and employee focused construction company. This position is full time and provides excellent salary and benefits, with a sales incentive structure. Apply by May 11th. Responsibilities Drive sales results by proactively developing and winning new business within assigned markets Build, maintain, and expand profitable client relationships that lead to negotiated and repeat work Execute disciplined prospecting activities, targeting owners, developers, architects, engineers, and influencers Influence project delivery decisions early to increase negoatiated pursuits Maintain and actively manage a targeted pipeline aligned with company revenue goals Represent M&J at community, industry, and networking events to grow market presence Participate in project interviews and lead persuasive, value-driven presentations Collaborate with marketing to develop compelling proposals and pursuit strategies Utilize CRM to track activity, opportunities, and outcomes with consistency and accountability Other duties as assigned by the Division Manager Qualifications 5+ years of sales experience Demonstrated success winning and closing complex B2B sales (construction sales or experience not required, however considered an asset) Bachelor's degree or associate degree preferred Proven ability to prospect consistently and develop opportunities from initial contact to contract Competitive, self-motivated, and resilient with a strong results orientation Ability to strategically manage time and prioritize high-impact sales activity Experience influencing decision-makers and negotiating project delivery approaches Continues to spend 16 hours per year in professional development and training Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability and Life Insurance 401k Plan, Profit Sharing Positive supportive company culture with a focus on development, success, and camaraderie
