Job Description

Job Title:
Environmental Inspector Job Description We are seeking a Deputy Inspector with 1-3 years of field inspection experience to support grading, earthwork, and foundation construction projects. This role is responsible for verifying construction activities comply with approved plans, geotechnical recommendations, and applicable building codes, working closely with engineers, geologists, contractors, and local building officials. Responsibilities Perform on-site inspections of grading, earthwork, soil subgrades, foundations, reinforcing steel, and concrete placement. Observe soil compaction and fill placement to verify compliance with project specifications and geotechnical reports. Inspect shotcrete/gunite, footing excavations, caissons, piles, and retaining wall foundations as required. Verify construction activities align with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. Complete inspection reports, logs, and daily documentation in accordance with jurisdictional requirements. Communicate observed deficiencies or deviations to project engineers or geologists. Issue correction notices when work does not meet project or code requirements. Assist with city or county inspection coordination when required. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience in deputy inspection, construction inspection, or soils technician/geotechnical field work. Basic understanding of grading and earthwork operations, foundations, concrete, and reinforcing steel. Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of inspection, grading, soil, geotechnical, construction, geology, civil engineering, water sampling, documentation control, and environmental engineering. Work Environment The work environment involves field inspections, which require the ability to work independently. Appropriate attire suitable for construction sites is necessary. The role may require coordination with city or county inspections, which necessitates flexibility in working hours and shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Glendale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
