Job Description This position requires a Master Electrician License issued by the Westchester County Electrical Licensing Board. Under general supervision, this position performs routine electrical maintenance, repair, and installation work, such as repairing and/or replacing electrical fixtures and installing electrical panels and circuits. Skilled maintenance and repair work of buildings and provides direct supervision to a wide variety of workers involved in the maintenance and repair of electrical components in school district buildings, related equipment, and including the layout of jobs. Work responsibilities are often complex, requiring advance planning, supervision, participation, and management of supplies and records. Work is performed with considerable independence of action and is initiated by oral instructions, written work orders, or electronically transmitted work orders. Examples of Work (Illustrative Only): Installs, connects, cuts, and bends conduit, wiring, outlets, switches, wall/ceiling, and pole fixtures. Installs and overhauls high-tension power lines, motors, transformers, generators, circuit protector boards, batteries, fans, buzzers, air conditioners, and specialized electrical equipment. Performs routine inspections to ensure equipment safety, proper operation, and adherence to trade standards. Supervises and participates in installing, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical systems. Responsible for overseeing daily electrical work schedules to subordinate personnel, and overseeing contractors to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with contract specifications. Keeps work areas clean, orderly, and safe. Assists with maintaining and allocating the electrical portion of the annual maintenance operating budget.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES

Thorough knowledge of the tools, processes, and terminology associated with electrical trades; thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair techniques associated with electrical trades; good knowledge of accident prevention and safety precautions of the trade; familiarity with the applicable provisions of the state code and such local code as applies to the trade; ability to do a wide variety of electrical repair work with a high degree of skill; ability to troubleshoot electrical power systems; ability to use all types of electrical test equipment; ability to calculate electrical loads and wire sizes; ability to coordinate work with the work of other trades; ability to read blueprints and rough sketches; ability to use electrical drawings; ability to comply with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety standards; ability to read and interpret National Electrical Code; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to get along well with others; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, calendar, e-mail and database software; ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position. This is a non-competitive class civil service position. ​

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

: (1) At the time of appointment, the incumbent is required to possess a Master Electrician License issued by the Westchester County Electrical Licensing Board in accordance with Sections 277.702 and 277.707 of Westchester County Law Article XVII. The appointing authority is responsible for ensuring that this license is current and maintained throughout the course of employment. (2) Possess and maintain a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.

Pay:

$73,599.00 - $89,408.00 per year
