Job Description

Overview Thurston Mechanical is a growing mechanical contractor serving industrial customers throughout the Greater Rochester region. We specialize in piping, plumbing, process systems, and design-build solutions. We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer/Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in engineering, estimating and mechanical construction. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with both engineering and construction while developing a strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems. Duties Assist in reviewing construction drawings and blueprints to interpret technical details and material requirements. Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimates and proposals. Support design-build projects and solution development. Meet with customers to understand project requirements and obtain field measurements. Conduct site visits, field measurements, and existing-condition assessments. Assist with budgeting, conceptual design, and value engineering. Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Coordinate with project managers and field teams throughout project executions. Develop knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and process system. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering technology, Construction Engineering, or a related field. 0-3 years of relevant experience (internships and co-op experience encouraged). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally Preferred Familiarity with HVAC, piping, plumbing, or industrial mechanical systems. Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
Pay:
$33.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
