Position Summary The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial, industrial, or residential construction projects. This position analyzes plans, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and project requirements to determine the total projected cost of work and support successful project bidding and budgeting. Key Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and related documents. Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals. Identify project risks, scope gaps, and potential cost impacts. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and vendors during the estimating process. Maintain estimating databases, unit pricing, and historical cost information. Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required. Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted by bid deadlines. Support project handoff to operations after contract award. Qualifications Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of estimating experience in construction preferred. Experience reading construction plans and specifications required. Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing. Proficiency with estimating software (such as Planswift, Bluebeam, Procore, Sage, or similar). Excellent math and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Texas construction markets and subcontractors. Experience with commercial construction projects. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance may be evaluated based on: Accuracy of project estimates compared to actual project costs. Percentage of bids submitted on or before deadlines. Bid success (award) rate. Timeliness of estimate completion. Number of estimating revisions due to errors or omissions. Responsiveness to internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors. Organization and completeness of estimating documentation. Contribution to value engineering and cost-saving opportunities. Collaboration and communication with project managers and field operations. Overall professionalism, reliability, and accountability. These expectations can be reviewed during regular performance evaluations and may be adjusted as business needs evolve. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Occasional travel to job sites and meetings. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs when necessary. Work Environment Combination of office and active construction site environments. Frequent interaction with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and employees. Occasional travel to project locations. May require extended hours to meet project deadlines.

Pay:

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
