About the Role Design With Nature is looking for a driven New Business Developer to create and close new landscape business. This is a sales-focused position for someone who enjoys meeting people, uncovering property needs, developing practical solutions, preparing estimates and proposals, following up consistently, and asking for the business. What You'll Do Proactively develop new landscape business through networking, referrals, outbound prospecting, relationship building, community and industry connections, and company-provided leads. Build relationships with homeowners, property decision-makers, builders, and other referral partners. Respond to new inquiries, qualify opportunities, schedule consultations, and maintain disciplined follow-up until an opportunity is won, lost, or intentionally closed. Meet with prospective clients to understand their goals, priorities, budget and timing. Conduct site assessments, measurements, photographs, and field observations needed to develop an accurate scope of work. Identify and present practical solutions across DWN services, including planting, cleanups, drainage, grading, lawn improvements, hardscape/light design-build work and tree-related work. Develop or coordinate conceptual plans, sketches, presentation materials, and design information appropriate to the project. Prepare accurate estimates and proposals with clear scope, assumptions, pricing, and client responsibilities. Present proposals, handle questions, revise scope when appropriate, and ask for the sale. Maintain an organized pipeline, proposal schedule, follow-up process, and accurate sales activity records. Create a complete handoff to the Landscape Operations Manager once work is sold and remain available for sales/design clarification as needed. What We're Looking For Proven ability to sell, develop business, manage a sales pipeline, and build client relationships; landscape-industry sales experience is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of landscape design, horticulture, plant material, drainage, grading, hardscape, or landscape construction sufficient to identify needs and develop credible solutions. Confidence leading client conversations, presenting recommendations, following up, and asking for the business. Ability to evaluate a property, organize field information, and translate client needs into a clear scope of work. Ability to prepare estimates, proposals, presentations, and basic conceptual drawings or sketches; landscape design software experience is a plus. Self-motivated, organized, resilient, and comfortable being accountable for measurable sales activity and results. Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements. A degree or certification in horticulture, landscape design, landscape architecture, landscape management, business, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent sales and industry experience is welcome.
Compensation Base salary:
$55,000 per year, plus unlimited commission. Total compensation will depend on individual sales performance and the commission plan but is projected between $70,000 and $90,000. Regular travel to prospective client properties and meetings in the local market. Ability to walk outdoor properties in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Some lifting, measuring, material or plant layout, and hands-on field activity may be required when supporting a sale or project handoff.
