In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations on highway sites, coordinate heavy equipment and skilled labor, and ensure all work complies with safety standards and project specifications. Your leadership will help keep infrastructure projects on track, promote a safety-first culture, and deliver durable results that serve communities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your construction expertise in a dynamic outdoor environment while guiding a team of skilled workers. Responsibilities Supervise daily highway construction activities, including roadway paving, grading, utility locating, and heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks. Coordinate traffic control measures for work zones to ensure safety for workers and the traveling public. Oversee the operation of heavy machinery like Caterpillar equipment while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations for commercial truck driving and transportation safety. Monitor project progress, troubleshoot mechanical issues with equipment, and perform basic maintenance or coordinate repairs using hand tools and power tools. Enforce safety protocols rigorously across the site, conduct safety briefings, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies. Lead a team of construction workers by assigning tasks such as manual handling of materials, heavy lifting, welding, and using various hand tools to support roadway construction projects. Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines, maintain quality standards, and document project milestones through detailed reports. Skills Extensive experience operating heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks. Strong knowledge of roadway construction processes such as paving, grading, asphalt compaction, utility installation, and highway maintenance. Proven ability to lead construction teams in outdoor environments while maintaining high safety standards. Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery troubleshooting and basic repairs. Familiarity with traffic control procedures for work zones to ensure safe navigation around active construction sites. Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications accurately. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members, subcontractors, and project stakeholders. Join us in building safer roads and stronger communities! We are committed to providing a safe working environment where your skills can shine while contributing to vital infrastructure projects. If you thrive in outdoor settings with hands-on work experience in civil infrastructure roles—especially those involving heavy equipment operation—this is your chance to make a meaningful impact every day.
