Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an Asbestos Abatement Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and compliant removal of asbestos-containing materials from various properties. Responsibilities Perform asbestos abatement procedures following strict OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and company safety protocols to ensure safe removal and disposal of asbestos materials. Prepare work sites by setting up containment barriers, negative air pressure units, and necessary equipment to prevent asbestos fiber release. Conduct thorough inspections of work areas before, during, and after abatement activities to verify complete removal and compliance with regulatory standards. Use specialized tools and techniques for asbestos removal, including encapsulation, enclosure, or removal of friable and non-friable asbestos materials. Maintain detailed documentation of all abatement activities, including logs, inspection reports, waste manifests, and safety records. Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding project progress, safety procedures, and any issues encountered during operations. Assist with related restoration tasks such as mold remediation or general construction support when needed to ensure project completion. Skills Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to asbestos abatement and construction safety practices. Experience in asbestos removal techniques, containment setup, and waste handling procedures. Background in construction or restoration environments with a focus on environmental hazards like mold remediation. Strong understanding of health and safety protocols to protect workers and the environment during hazardous material removal. Ability to operate specialized equipment safely and efficiently in confined or challenging spaces. Excellent attention to detail for inspection, documentation, and quality control purposes. Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
