Production Associate - Swing Shift Job Description This swing shift Production Associate role supports electronic manufacturing operations to ensure customer deadlines are met. You will perform routine production tasks such as testing, inspection, light assembly, machine operation, and packaging in a light industrial environment. The position offers structured training, close supervision, and clear production standards, making it ideal for individuals who are eager to learn, demonstrate a great attitude, and build a long-term career in manufacturing. Responsibilities Support production manufacturing activities to ensure customer deadlines and production goals are consistently met. Perform testing, inspection, light assembly, machine operation, and packaging tasks according to detailed work instructions. Assemble electronic and mechanical components, including tasks similar to connecting one hose to another by hand, while meeting daily and weekly throughput metrics. Use basic hand tools and follow blueprints or work instructions to complete routine assembly and production tasks. Operate within established policies, procedures, and quality guidelines, seeking approval for any deviations. Follow company quality policy guidelines, adhere to customer specifications, and comply with applicable regulatory requirements. Monitor your own work to ensure it meets quality standards, and deliver work that minimizes scrap, rework, and waste. Document work and production data using basic computer programs, including simple navigation and basic Excel for documentation. Participate in improvement initiatives, such as 5S or similar programs, to enhance the work environment, productivity, and efficiency. Adapt to changes in work plans, priorities, and management decisions while maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Work cooperatively within a team and with cross-functional teams as needed, sharing information, knowledge, and experience openly. Maintain a level temperament in a fast-paced or occasionally stressful environment and escalate issues to supervisors when appropriate. Complete all assigned tasks on time without compromising quality, using time effectively to manage workload and meet individual throughput goals. Stay current on required certifications and training for the role and apply new work requirements with minimal supervision. Demonstrate flexibility by helping out in other departments as needed and willingly taking on additional assignments. Participate in orientation and training on day shift during the first week before transitioning to the regular swing shift schedule. Follow all safety guidelines and physical requirements, including standing or sitting as needed and lifting light components throughout the shift. Essential Skills Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate simple programs, use basic Excel for documentation, and work with email (such as Outlook). Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, or production documentation for electronic and mechanical assembly. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools in a production or assembly environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work with minimal scrap or rework. Ability to adapt to changes in work plans, priorities, and management direction while maintaining productivity. Capability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with coworkers and cross-functional teams. Good oral and written communication skills for interacting with supervisors and team members and documenting work. Self-motivation and reliability, with the ability to complete tasks on time and manage workload effectively. Willingness to be flexible, assist in other departments, and take on additional assignments as needed. Ability to maintain a calm, level temperament in a fast-paced or stressful environment. Physical ability to sit and/or stand for the duration of the shift and frequently reach at waist level. High School diploma or equivalent GED is preferred. One (1) or more years of related experience in manufacturing, production, or a similar environment is preferred, but not required. Ability to learn and be comfortable completing different tasks on a frequent basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous electronic manufacturing experience, including through-hole or surface mount soldering, is highly desirable. Experience in electronic assembly, production, or light industrial general assembly is a plus. Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints or technical drawings. Experience using hand tools in a manufacturing or assembly setting. Background in retail, food service, fast food, or other manufacturing fields can translate well into this role. Demonstrated desire to progress and build a long-term career in manufacturing, including advancement into lead or supervisory roles. Experience participating in continuous improvement initiatives, such as 5S, productivity, or efficiency projects. Consistent track record of meeting individual throughput or performance goals in previous roles. Ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. Comfort working under close supervision while following detailed instructions and established procedures. Openness to entry-level opportunities with a strong focus on attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate noise level. The facility employs approximately 450 permanent employees, offering a structured and professional production setting. This is a light industrial, general assembly environment where components typically weigh no more than 10-15 pounds. You will perform testing, inspection, light assembly, machine operation, and packaging tasks, with the option to sit or stand during the 8-hour swing shift; however, standing will be required for portions of the shift. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the first week of employment spent on day shift for orientation and training. Work involves frequent reaching at waist level and using basic computer systems, Excel, and email for documentation and communication. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork, with clear production standards and close supervisory support. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nampa, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.80 - $19.80/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
