The Health Center is looking for a Director of Cultivation in the cannabis industry. Responsibilities Ensure that all supplies needed for the garden are ordered in a timely fashion. This involves ordering from many different vendors, both local, domestic, and international in some cases.

This includes items such as:

grow media, IPM supplies (pesticides) , irrigation supplies, reservoirs, greenhouse trays, fans, and benches, nutrients, safety equipment/PPE, tools, hardware. Maintain proper environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, CO2) in different environments throughout different stages of the plant's life cycle, including the dry and cure stage. This is essential to maximize yield and minimize potential problems such as mold and mildew. This includes checking all HVAC units, intake fans, and exhaust fans to make sure that they are functioning properly and addressing any issues that arise. Issues do arise frequently as there are many HVAC units, multiple dehumidifiers and humidifiers, and dozens of exhaust fans throughout the facility. Ensure proper PLC (programmable logic controller) settings and functions. The PLC controls all essential functions except for fertigation, which will be built into the next phase. Develop and maintain an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan to address any pest issues that arise. This includes visual inspections of plants with the naked eye and/or microscope daily looking for potential problems such as mites, mold, mildew, and aphids and then taking the proper steps to eliminate the pest. Having a good IPM program in place allows for a certain level of protection from these potential pests. Our IPM program includes preventative sprays and root drenches. We rotate different products at different times in order to minimize any chance of resistance to a particular product. This requires us to constantly monitor the State's approved list of pesticides and make any changes as needed. We are also required to update our Pesticide Applicator License every three years. Coordinate the schedule with all departments that involve the processing of the product up until distribution; trim, package, grow, and harvest. It is vital that the labor is being used in the most efficient manner and that each of the departments is cooperating with each other. Handle propagation of all plants for the company. We determine what strains and how many of each of them we will be cutting clones of. Selecting new strains and particular phenotypes for our garden in order to ensure that we stay current in the market. This involves selecting seeds from our in-house library or sourcing clones through METRC, and testing all phenotypes to ensure that they meet our strict standards. We are looking for potential intersex traits, terpene profile, yield, vigor, and flowering time in order to find unique strains that work well within our system. Looking into the future, we'd like to introduce an in house breeding program to create strains exclusive to our company. Consult with company owners and building contractors to plan future projects and building improvements such as adding air conditioning/heating, fans, co2, irrigation systems and strategies. Constant evaluation of all techniques and methods in order to ensure that things are being done in a cost effective and efficient manner. This includes doing trials with different media, different nutrients, and different IPM products. Handle any permits pertaining to construction projects for the grow. In the last year, this has involved closing out Mechanical, Zoning, ELectrical and Construction Permits. Train employees before they can begin to work with live plants in veg. or flowering rooms. This covers a variety of different topics. Requirements and skills .Withhold a Valid CO MED Badge Proven experience as a grower, preferably at a large scale; and management experience required Knowledge of the entire cannabis growth cycle and requirements Familiarity with environment protection practices and the marijuana legal framework in our area Understanding of pest and disease management techniques Willingness to continue learning about horticulture and cannabis farming, and stay on top of current and future trends Problem-solving aptitude Leadership and people management skills Ability to meet the physical demands of the job Degree in Botany, Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture or relevant field is a plus Candidates must be eligible to work in the Colorado Marijuana industry with a valid industry badge.

Position Schedule:

Monday - Friday 6:00 A.M. - 3 P.M. Some weekend availibility may be required.
