Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students by providing sign language interpretation in a supportive, school-based setting. This contract opportunity calls for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter who is comfortable working with middle schoolers in a multi-categorical classroom. The assignment runs from ASAP through May 27, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours a week. You'll work with two students who require dedicated support to access their classroom environment, regularly interpreting for both who sit together. One student is also on the autism spectrum and may sometimes display behavioral challenges; however, handling behavioral interventions is not expected as another staff member is assigned to that role. If you have or want additional training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), this can be arranged through the district to ensure comfort and preparedness.
Key Qualifications:
Current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (as per South Carolina requirements) High school diploma or equivalent Passing score on the written EIPA test Ability to clear a background check Willingness to sign the SLI Code of Ethics during onboarding
