Position Summary The Manufacturing Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities related to manufacturing operations. This role provides financial leadership, cost accounting expertise, budget support, inventory management oversight, and operational analysis to drive profitability and efficiency. The Manufacturing Controller partners closely with plant leadership, operations, supply chain, and executive management to ensure accurate financial reporting and sound business decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for manufacturing operations. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of plant performance, costs, and key financial metrics. Monitor manufacturing variances and investigate significant deviations from budgets and standards. Support month-end and year-end closing activities. Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Cost Accounting Develop, maintain, and monitor standard costing systems. Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Review and validate bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and inventory valuation methods. Conduct cost analyses for new products, capital investments, and operational initiatives. Manage and report on manufacturing cost variances. Budgeting and Forecasting Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes for manufacturing operations. Partner with plant management to develop realistic operating plans and financial targets. Track actual performance against budget and forecast results. Identify risks and opportunities affecting production costs and profitability. Inventory Control Oversee inventory accounting and valuation processes. Ensure accurate inventory records through cycle counts and physical inventory audits. Monitor inventory levels, obsolescence reserves, and inventory turnover metrics. Support inventory optimization initiatives while maintaining financial controls. Operational Support Provide financial analysis and recommendations to improve manufacturing efficiency and profitability. Partner with operations teams to evaluate productivity, labor utilization, yield, scrap, and waste. Support capital expenditure planning and return-on-investment analyses. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards for plant leadership. Internal Controls & Compliance Establish and maintain strong internal controls over manufacturing transactions and inventory. Support internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and applicable accounting standards where applicable. Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting systems. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Experience 5-10+ years of accounting or finance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong background in cost accounting and inventory management. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
