Fremont Veterinary Hospital | Cañon City, Colorado Join Our Team! Fremont Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our growing, family-owned small animal practice in beautiful Cañon City, Colorado. We are a busy, collaborative hospital that has been proudly serving Fremont County and the surrounding communities since 1951. Our team provides high-quality medicine to the pets and families of Cañon City, Penrose, Florence, Westcliffe, Pueblo, and throughout Southern Colorado. We believe our technicians are an essential part of the medical team. Who We Are Fremont Veterinary Hospital is a small animal practice offering modern medicine in a welcoming, team-oriented environment. We utilize current technology and equipment, including: Digital general and dental radiography IDEXX in-house laboratory equipment, including automated urinalysis Abdominal ultrasound Echocardiogram Therapeutic laser Surgical laser Modern anesthesia and surgical monitoring capabilities Electronic medical records through Cornerstone Our hospital is busy, but we strive to maintain a positive work environment where team members communicate well, support one another, and work together to provide exceptional patient and client care. What You'll Do As an RVT at Fremont Veterinary Hospital, you will be an integral member of our medical team and have the opportunity to utilize a wide range of your technical skills. Patient Care & Veterinary Nursing Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures using veterinary anesthesia, radiology, and critical care techniques. Perform physical examinations and assist with preventive healthcare recommendations. Communicate with clients regarding routine patient care and preventative medicine. Safely handle and restrain animals using appropriate techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety. Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients. Assist with grooming, patient comfort, and general animal care as needed. Assist with kennel management and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment. Provide appropriate restraint and patient handling for dogs, cats, and other species as needed. Anesthesia & Surgery Prepare patients for anesthesia and surgical procedures. Induce and monitor general anesthesia under veterinary supervision. Monitor anesthetic depth, vital signs, and patient status throughout surgical procedures. Place IV catheters and administer medications through IV, injectable, oral, topical, and other appropriate routes. Prepare surgical patients and maintain appropriate aseptic technique. Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures and provide postoperative nursing care. Recognize changes in patient status and communicate concerns promptly to the veterinarian. Laboratory & Diagnostics Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and IV catheter placement. Collect, process, and evaluate laboratory samples, including blood, urine, fecal samples, and cytology specimens. Perform diagnostic testing, including urinalysis, fecal/parasite analysis, and blood smear evaluation. Operate laboratory equipment and analyzers accurately and efficiently. Perform diagnostic imaging using digital general and dental radiography. Assist with ultrasound and other diagnostic procedures as needed. Operate medical equipment, including radiography systems, laboratory analyzers, anesthesia machines, and monitoring equipment, with precision and attention to safety and aseptic technique. Medical Records & Client Communication Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Pulse Veterinary Software. Document treatments, procedures, medications, diagnostic results, and client communications clearly and accurately. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet health concerns, treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care. Provide appropriate client education to promote compliance and improve patient outcomes. Foster positive, trusting relationships with clients through compassionate and professional communication.

Veterinary Technician degree/certification The ideal candidate is: Confident and compassionate with both patients and clients Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Able to multitask and prioritize effectively An excellent communicator Detail-oriented and dependable A positive team player Comfortable working independently while also knowing when to ask for help Interested in continuing education and expanding their veterinary skill set Passionate about providing excellent patient care Able to maintain composure and efficiency in a busy clinical environment We are looking for someone who wants to be more than an extra set of hands. Our RVTs are valued members of the medical team, and we want you to use your training, knowledge, and technical skills to their full potential. Emergency Availability Our technicians do not have a formal set on-call schedule. However, because veterinary emergencies occasionally arise, there may be times when a veterinarian needs a technician to stay after hours. Participation is not part of a regular on-call rotation, and additional compensation is provided when a technician chooses to come in to assist with an emergency.
