Trinity on Laurens is a faith-based non-profit organization looking for compassionate, caring professionals who dedicate themselves to providing quality care and promoting the highest in customer service. Located in Aiken, SC, Trinity on Laurens is a growing, robust community of active senior adults. We are currently recruiting a Maintenance Assistant. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining the safety, appearance, functionality, and overall condition of the community's buildings, grounds, equipment, and other physical facilities. This position performs routine repairs, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep, with a focus on ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, families, visitors, and team members.
Responsibilities:
Inspect buildings, grounds, equipment, and common areas to identify maintenance needs and potential safety concerns. Perform routine and preventative maintenance to help keep facilities, equipment, and grounds in safe and proper working condition. Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, fixtures, and other general maintenance activities. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete work in a timely and professional manner. Assist with cleaning, refurbishing, redecorating, and maintaining community spaces as needed. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of basic plumbing systems and water-related maintenance issues. Properly use, maintain, and care for tools, equipment, supplies, and materials. Minimize waste and ensure supplies and equipment are used appropriately and efficiently. Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance work areas. Follow established safety procedures, policies, and applicable regulations. Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, team members, vendors, contractors, and others. Respond to residents and others in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner. Follow written and verbal instructions and exercise sound judgment when addressing routine maintenance issues. Work cooperatively with other departments and team members to support the overall needs of the community. Must maintain all privacy rules and regulations pertaining to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Also must complete an annual mandatory HIPAA training session Maintains a cooperative and cohesive relationship with staff as well as in other areas. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years of experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field. Working knowledge of basic plumbing, floor care, and general building maintenance. Ability to perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance safely and effectively. Ability to work cooperatively and maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, visitors, and team members. Ability to interact with residents respectfully, professionally, and with patience, including residents with varying levels of cognitive, physical, or behavioral needs. Ability to use supplies, tools, and equipment responsibly while minimizing waste and preventing unnecessary damage or misuse. Detailed oriented and strong problem solving skills Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make appropriate decisions within the scope of the position. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact tactfully and professionally with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government representatives, vendors, and the general public. Ability to properly maintain and care for tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and professional maintenance environment.
