Position Summary The Sales Account Representative owns a book of business end to end, sourcing new opportunities, closing them, and then growing and retaining those accounts over time.
This is a full-cycle role:
you are the primary point of contact for your customers from first outreach through renewal and expansion.
Sales Account Representative Responsibilities:
Account Ownership & Growth Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of accounts. Build and maintain strong customer relationships that drive retention, renewals, and repeat business. Develop account plans that map customer goals to our services and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities. Conduct regular check-ins and business reviews to confirm value delivery and surface new needs. Monitor account health and address risks before they affect renewal. Prospecting & Lead Qualification Identify and research potential customers within your assigned territory or segment. Conduct outreach through cold calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn/networking, and referrals. Qualify prospects against fit criteria and convert them into sales opportunities. Sales Presentations Deliver compelling presentations tailored to each customer's needs. Clearly communicate the value of our services and how they address client goals. Negotiate & Close Deals Manage objections and negotiate pricing and terms within company guidelines. Coordinate proposals, agreements, and approvals to secure closed-won deals. Coordinate proposals, agreements, and approvals to secure closed-won deals. Pipeline & CRM Management Track all sales and account activity in CRM software or internal tracking tools. Build, manage, and nurture a consistent pipeline from first contact through close and renewal. Maintain accurate forecasting and sales reporting for both new business and existing accounts. Market & Competitor Research Stay informed on market trends, competitor offerings, and evolving customer needs. Use those insights to refine messaging, sharpen sales strategy, and defend accounts against competitive pressure. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Marketing to support lead generation and outreach efforts. Work with internal teams to ensure a smooth handoff and a strong ongoing customer experience. Escalate and coordinate resolution of customer issues that affect account health. Required Qualifications 2+ years of sales experience (B2B, B2C, inside sales, outside sales, or related), including experience managing or growing existing accounts. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain solutions clearly. Proven negotiation and closing ability, including objection handling. Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or similar) or willingness to learn. Ability to build multi-stakeholder relationships and manage several accounts at once. Strong organization, time management, and follow-up discipline. Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently. Strong analytical thinking and the ability to align customer needs with the right solution. Preferred Qualifications Experience carrying both a new-business quota and a retention or expansion target. Familiarity with account planning, renewals, or QBR processes.
