Vision All culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities and their families thrive in an inclusive society of their design. Mission We engage and partner with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and their families. We use a cultural brokerage model to navigate services, provide specialized programming and advocate for systems change. ODMF Family Support Case Managers serve families of children with disabilities and advocate on their behalf. They help families navigate complex systems, provide cultural and language support (if applicable), assist families accessing resources, information, and services. They outreach to focus communities, organize related activities, and collaborate with professionals and community volunteers to support multicultural families and their loved ones with disabilities.

Hybrid workplace, combining in-office and remote work

RESPONSIBILITIES
General:

Outreach to communities to identify and recruit families of children with disabilities participating at our programs and services (including focus groups) Conduct culturally appropriate initial contact and intake to establish a family's comprehensive plan based on a full needs assessment. Work with collaborating agencies, assist families navigating disability service systems effectively and obtaining available resources, services, and information. Promote parent/educator partnership by supporting families of children with disabilities, special educators, specialists, and administrators to increase parental engagement in special education. Culturally and, when appropriate, linguistically interpret (including simultaneous interpretation in a group setting) Special Education and disability related information and resources to ensure families' understanding on the issues. Conduct home or site visits. Attend meetings, such as IEPs, with families to help them advocate for positive outcomes at the best interests of the families. Link families with parent support groups and support parent mentors and their support group activities. Work as a collaborative team member with other staff of the program to conduct family events and fulfill other project related responsibilities. Work with parent mentors to conduct parent education training. Provide community education to increase disability awareness in diverse communities and advocate for system changes for people with disabilities from diverse backgrounds. Network and develop positive partnering relationships with other community agency staff. Outreach to diverse communities by distributing materials at community gathering places and resource fairs to ensure program visibility. Actively integrate advocacy into all aspects of work by promoting equity, inclusion, and systems change in support of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. This includes ensuring that advocacy efforts are woven throughout program implementation, outreach activities, and team collaboration. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Administrative:

Work with other program staff and Program Leadership to monitor, evaluate and improve program performance to meet client needs most effectively. Maintain accurate and up-to-date files and documentation online (Salesforce) for complete and timely reporting. Maintain confidentiality of client information Attend program and staff meetings and training as determined by supervisor Other duties as assigned by Program Leadership Cultural and language specific responsibilities (when applicable) Provide cultural and language support to families as assigned by Program Manager (example: at ODMF workshops) Design, adapt and if appropriate, translate flyers and proofread documents to culturally adapt and embody our work, as assigned by Program Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to fulfill all responsibilities listed above. English speaking with strong verbal and written English. Highly Fluent in Spanish Bachelor's degree in related field desired. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, and Power Point) Track record of respect for others' experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and collaboration Knowledge of Special Education, DDA system, social services, resources and information for people with disabilities Proven ability as an effective communicator and strong advocate for people with disabilities and their families Available for flexible work hours (some evenings and weekends as needed) Able to commute to and provide services throughout King County, some Pierce County Ability to pass DSHS criminal background check upon job offer & Every 2 Years.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

This position works with the Latino community. Individuals with lived or professional experience working with this community are highly encouraged to apply Bilingual in any language preferred Knowledge of resources and information for people with disabilities One year paid or volunteer experience working with diverse families of family members with disabilities.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Sitting for long periods of time Working in front of a computer or at a desk for long periods of time Standing and stooping
