Material Control maintains warehouse and buffer storage for all Submarine Programs.

Growth Opportunities The Transportation Logistics Planner will need to exercise problem recognition and resolution skills, provide support for all transportation activities between QP departments to include Major and Complex moves, and will be required to interface with various levels of management and shipyard personnel in order to ensure work completion. The Transportation Logistics Planner is also responsible for the QP Forklift safety program to include the Forklift Accident Prevention Team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following; Transportation dispatch for all material moves within Quonset Facility and coordinate with Groton Transportation for moves between facilities

Must attend all major move meetings and coordinate assistance needed by rigging to support the trades

Responsible for monitoring the miles and hours of all trucks for tax reporting through Groton as well as registrations and renewals

Must possess experience and background knowledge pertaining to securing material in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations

Must possess a detailed understanding of loading and rigging practices for establishing proper loads working with cranes as well as large capacity forklifts

This position may require work to be performed outside at various times of the day and in any weather condition

Commitment towards safety and must be able to handle/lift heavy items within safety guidelines utilizing the Transportation resources available

Compliance with safety, quality, environmental, cost, schedule, and process improvement initiatives are mandatory

Consistent communication with 1st shift transportation team to ensure seamless transition of shifts

Interdepartmental communication via phone/email to ensure timely delivery of materials This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI location.

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or equivalent

A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated transportation experience

Must be able to work all shifts

Must have the ability to multitask/execute simultaneous tasks

Thorough understanding of DOT guidelines and requirements

Must possess experience and knowledge of computer systems to include Microsoft Office suite as well as mobile computing (tablet) experience and demonstrate this knowledge at the time of interview

Preferred:

Associate degree or higher

Valid Class A Driver's License

Hazmat DOT certification

Hazmat shipper certification (DOT 49 CFR)

Prior shipping and receiving experience

Over the road hauling specifically flatbed experience

Leadership experience

Military/Navy experience

Shipyard experience Skills Organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and quick decision making

Leadership skills

Detail oriented and organized
