Job Description

This is a second shift position working M-F 3:00pm - 11:30pm. Under the direct supervision of the Building Facilities Management Team, the Building Facilities Assistant is responsible to maintain a safe, healthy and secure environment of all Sherburne County properties. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Primarily responsible for performing tasks such as maintaining and repairing maintenance department equipment, seasonal grounds maintenance, routine tasks to include package deliveries and disposal of jail trash, custodial duties when assigned to include cleaning and disinfecting building areas including bathrooms, floors, water fountains, and light construction duties including patching, painting, assembling, building. Assists Building Facilities Technicians with routine maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, sprinkler systems, alarm and lock systems, etc. Ensures that all work is performed adhering to safety and security procedures regarding buildings and ground maintenance, but not limited to: snow and ice removal, door security, alarms, and appropriate equipment inspection. Monitor supply inventories and departmental equipment condition so that proper stock can be maintained and distributed to county staff as required. Develop and maintain respectful and cooperative working relationships. Regular and reliable attendance according to the department's work schedule. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance including safe operation of equipment and appropriate use of cleaning and maintenance supplies. General knowledge of HVAC systems maintenance. Skilled in, or ability to quickly learn, operation and maintenance of custodial and grounds keeping equipment. General knowledge of light construction work such as minor drywall repair, plumbing repairs, interior/external painting/staining. Ability to work independently on a variety of assignments. Ability to keep a work schedule assuring all assigned work is completed in a timely manner. Minimum Qualifications An individual must meet the minimum qualifications as stated below to qualify for this position. High School diploma or equivalent is required, plus two to three years relevant work experience. Training or experience in equipment repair and maintenance is required. Must successfully complete pre-employment physical examination to ensure ability to perform essential functions of the job. Supplemental Information Physical Requirements and Work Environment Position works with cleaning chemicals, vehicle maintenance fluids and solvents, and in all weather conditions including grounds keeping and ice and snow removal. Require long hours and/or being called out to ensure ice and snow are removed prior to or after normal business hours. Work hazards including chemicals, working in areas that may contain infectious materials, lifting, repeated movement, noise, fumes, and odors. Ability to lift 1-50 pounds continuously, 51-75 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds continuously and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Non-sedentary job requiring walking, climbing and vehicle operation continuously. Must successfully complete pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check. Interviews will be held on Thursday, April 23rd Sherburne County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including: Medical (employee, employee + spouse, employee + child(ren), or family coverage). Monthly premiums for Employee only coverage are covered 100% by the county. County Contributions to VEBA and HSA plans Employer paid $25,000
