Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Facilities Assistant to support the maintenance and cleanliness of our vibrant art center campus. This role is vital in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for artists, visitors, staff, and community members. The Facilities Assistant will perform a variety of custodial and maintenance tasks, including cleaning and basic repairs, to uphold the high standards of our creative space. Salary is commensurate with experience. Duties Perform comprehensive cleaning duties across all campus areas, including floors, restrooms, studios, galleries, and common spaces using commercial cleaning equipment. Handle janitorial responsibilities Conduct routine facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting (including painting, carpentry, outdoor light landscaping), and upkeep of fixtures to support the campus's aesthetic and functional standards. Manage custodial supplies inventory, ensuring all cleaning equipment is maintained in excellent condition and used according to chemical handling safety procedures. Assist with heavy lifting tasks involving furniture or equipment moving while following safe lifting practices to prevent accidents. Support campus safety initiatives by adhering to safety protocols during all maintenance activities and reporting hazards promptly. Qualifications Proven experience in custodial work or janitorial services within commercial or institutional settings. Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and moving objects or furniture. Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude toward assisting staff, visitors, and community members. Experience in facilities maintenance is preferred. Plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, working with tools, art studio operations, is an asset. Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while performing routine tasks. Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
