Position Overview Gateway Maryland seeks an experienced and relationship-driven Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations to lead institutional fundraising efforts and strengthen partnerships with corporations, foundations, and philanthropic organizations. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure funding that advances Gateway's mission of providing specialized education, autism services, communication access, family support, clinical services, and community-based programs for individuals with disabilities and communication differences. The Director will manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors, oversee grant development and reporting, identify new funding opportunities, and serve as a key ambassador for Gateway throughout the philanthropic community. The successful candidate will be an exceptional writer, strategic thinker, and skilled relationship builder who is passionate about creating opportunities for individuals and families served by Gateway. Essential Responsibilities Corporate & Foundation Fundraising Develop and implement an annual strategy for corporate and foundation fundraising. Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of institutional funders and prospects. Research and identify new funding opportunities that align with Gateway's strategic priorities. Cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and foundation donors through a thoughtful moves management process. Support philanthropic initiatives related to strategic growth, capital needs, program expansion, and innovation. Partner with executive leadership to develop funding strategies for emerging organizational opportunities. Grant Development & Management Manage the preparation of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, sponsorship requests, and reports. Collaborate with program and finance teams to develop compelling narratives, budgets, and outcomes measures. Maintain a comprehensive grant calendar to ensure timely submission of applications and reports. Monitor grant performance and compliance with funder requirements. Maintain accurate records related to proposals, awards, reporting deadlines, and funding outcomes. Note- we have members of the team who write the grants; we need someone to steward the relationships and ensure that the grant process is well executed. Corporate Partnerships Develop meaningful partnerships with corporations and corporate foundations throughout Maryland and the surrounding region. Create sponsorship opportunities that support Gateway events, special initiatives, and organizational priorities. Identify opportunities for corporate engagement, volunteerism, and community involvement. Represent Gateway at networking events and in meetings with corporate leaders and philanthropic partners. Stewardship & Donor Engagement Ensure exceptional stewardship of corporate and foundation donors. Coordinate site visits, tours, presentations, and donor engagement activities. Work with internal teams to communicate the impact of donor investments. Develop reports and materials that demonstrate outcomes, accountability, and mission impact. Support recognition and engagement strategies that strengthen long-term donor relationships. Data & Performance Management Track fundraising activity, proposal outcomes, and revenue performance against established goals. Monitor institutional fundraising trends and recommend strategies to maximize funding opportunities. Maintain accurate donor and prospect records within the organization's CRM system. Prepare reports and updates for senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Qualifications Required Five or more years of successful experience in business development, sales, relationship management, foundation relations, corporate fundraising, grants management, or institutional philanthropy. Demonstrated success securing and managing five- and six-figure contracts, grants and sponsorships. Exceptional writing, editing, and proposal development skills. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. Commitment to Gateway Maryland's mission and values. Preferred Experience in corporate business development or nonprofit advancement Knowledge of the Maryland social fabric and landscape Familiarity with CRMs, donor databases, and/or fundraising software used to steward leads. CFRE certification or other relationship management certifications. Increase the number of qualified corporate and foundation prospects in the pipeline. Maintain timely submission of all grant applications and reports. Secure new foundation and corporate partnerships. Expand multi-year funding commitments. Strengthen institutional support for Gateway's educational, clinical, communication access, and family support programs.
Salary Range:
$85,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience for full-time position. Bonus or ladder compensation structure to be developed based on TBD KPIs.
Target Annual Revenue Portfolio:
$300,000-500,000 in corporate and foundation support year 1. Benefits
