This role owns shop floor performance — production scheduling, safety, quality, and staffing — across our structural/miscellaneous metal fabrication and Truck Body & Equipment divisions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience running a fabrication facility and is comfortable reading blueprints and technical drawings. Experience with metal fabrication, metal shearing, and CNC plasma cutting is a plus. Responsibilities Oversee daily shop floor operations to ensure safe, efficient, on-time production Manage production scheduling and workflow across fabrication, shearing, and cutting operations Supervise, coach, and develop shop supervisors, leads, and fabrication staff Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies Monitor production quality and lead continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide and verify production work Coordinate with estimating, sales, and project management on scheduling and shop capacity Oversee equipment maintenance and uptime, including shears, CNC plasma cutters, and other shop equipment Manage material flow, inventory, and shop layout to maximize efficiency Track key operational metrics such as throughput, on-time delivery, scrap/rework, and labor efficiency Handle staffing needs, including hiring, training, and performance management Report on operational performance to the General Manager and leadership team Requirements Proven experience running or managing a fabrication facility or shop required Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings required Experience with metal fabrication, metal shearing, and CNC plasma cutting a plus Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulatory compliance Excellent organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with production/ERP software and Microsoft Office Experience in structural steel, construction, or truck equipment industries a plus About Ferrotek Ferrotek is a metal fabrication company based in Ferndale, Washington, specializing in structural and miscellaneous metal fabrication for private and commercial construction and industrial clients.
