Purchasing Manager

Relocation assistance is available for highly qualified candidates. About the Role Schrader Pacific is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead supplier strategy, cost reduction and quality performance for our automotive component manufacturing operations in Altavista, VA. This role drives strong supplier partnerships, zero‑defect expectations and efficient Purchasing processes that support production and new product development. Key Responsibilities Supplier cost‑reduction programs that protect margins and support market‑driven pricing. Supplier contracts & partnerships that maximize throughput and strengthen business growth. Technology partner development to support flexible capacity and rapid new product launches. Zero‑defect performance across all suppliers. Process improvement to eliminate waste in ordering, releases, receiving, and payment. Risk & compliance management to protect the business from legal and liability exposure. Ethical supplier relations and quality compliance leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field. 6-8 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in manufacturing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Solid computer proficiency (ERP/MRP experience preferred). Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and a strong team player. Self‑motivated with the ability to drive initiatives independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience with APQP, PPAP, or automotive quality systems. Background in high‑mix/low‑volume manufacturing. Continuous improvement or lean experience. Certification from Institute of Supply Management (CPSM) Experience in Domestic and international sourcing and logistics This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
