License/Certification Required None Essential Job Functions The Research Coordinator for the Aging Adult Mental Health Initiative will play a key supportive role in the "Aging Well High Country Older Adult Mental Health Initiative," which is a collaborative, data -driven, and sustainable effort aimed at addressing critical mental health needs of older adults in Western North Carolina. The initiative seeks to tackle challenges such as geographic isolation, economic hardship, and cultural barriers.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication and Marketing:
Create and design health promotion materials, including graphics, flyers, and presentations, using digital tools such as Canva. Manage AAMH calendar actions, scheduling events and activities, using communication and collaboration tools within Microsoft, Google, and similar platforms. Draft itineraries and agendas for the program year or specific events. Develop presentations, reports, and materials for academic, community, and professional audiences. Develop content and educational materials that support the development a nd imple me ntation of health promotion campaigns. Manage web-based content, ensuring content is up to date, relevant, and cross-linked, where appropriate, with other APP-PHI web pages. Where appropriate, support core partners with the management of their web-based content specific to AAMH.
Time Management and Reporting:
Design and lead evaluation plans, gather data, and submit compliance reports (quarterly and annually). Develop regular progress reports for internal project management and collaboration. Work in coordination with APP-PHI staff, Office of Sponsored Projects, and funding entities to ensure post-award compliance and alignment with evolving grant administration needs. In collaboration with other APP-PHI staff, identify and pursue grant opportunities to support program initiatives.
Technology Management:
Set up, manage, and store the technology resources for cross-team collaboration and information sharing. Design and maintain data systems or resource databases to support program goals.
Resource Organization and Creation:
Develop and update organizational models, strategic plans, and resource guides. Maintain a Program Management Folder and ensure resources are current and accessible to the staff of the APP-PHI Lab.
Meeting Coordination:
Coordinate monthly team meetings, prepare agendas, and disseminate information to internal and external partners. Plan, organize, and execute large-scale stakeholder convenings.
Community Engagement:
Develop and maintain community relationships by attending coalition meetings/community events and establishing future projects for collaboration. Maintain a network database of key and tangential stakeholders for continuity of relationships long-term. Conduct regular follow-ups with community partners, seeking input for quality improvement efforts, as well as insights specific to implemented services and programs. Share community engagement opportunities with other APP-PHI staff as they become relevant. Co-design program activities with key stakeholders using community-based participatory frameworks. Maintain an appropriate knowledge base for stakeholders, and their specific disciplines, that contribute significantly to the work of AAMH (e.g., Area Agency on Aging (AAA), health care administration, senior centers, and long-term care facilities, etc.) Collaborate with discipline -specific leaders on all outreach and engagement activities to ensure strong long-term relationships. Program Management Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices, interventions (e.g., Rapid PFA), e tc, specific to older/aging adults and mental health. In collaboration with the Director, manage program-specific budget and serve as a mindful steward of both financial resources and program-related supplies and equipment. Actively identify and pursue professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills, and competence related to program development, implementation, and evaluation. Translate data findings into actionable recommendations for program and policy improvement.
Additional Information:
The Research Coordinator is expected to stay informed about APP-PHI updates, policies, and requirements. Regular check-ins with other APP-PHI staff, as well as staff of the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness, are essential to provide support and ensure program engagement. Participation in events, training sessions, and meetings is required to maintain program standards and foster a supportive environment. May support or mentor interns, students, or junior team members.
