Head of Project Management Responsibilities:
The Head of Project Management is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing an organization's project management function, ensuring projects align with strategic goals, and are delivered on time and within budget. Key duties include setting project strategy, managing a team of project managers, developing and implementing project management methodologies, and communicating with executive leadership about project performance and risks. The role is responsible for leading a team of project managers, which can also include cross-functional team members on several product development projects within each product line. You are responsible for the successful conclusion of all product development projects by providing leadership, strategically managing risk, monitoring finances, and making sure that each phase of the project starts and ends on schedule. Your oversight is at the strategic level, managing shared resources and finances to make sure each project is progressing on time and within budget. This leadership position requires that you update regularly to address needed adjustments to staffing or timelines to align with the broader outcome goals of the company. You are responsible for critical decision-making, such as adjusting the budget and adding resources related to the project governance processes. The project managers report to you regularly, and you then report to the senior management team. This position works at a strategic and tactical level. You're responsible for understanding the broader context of the organization and the changes occurring in the program or portfolio of projects they're overseeing. They strive to align each project's approach and impact with the organization's larger goals and objectives. Work with little direction and supervision to provide direction and guidance to the project managers under you and sometimes the project teams as well.
Qualifications Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum Master, or equivalent preferred
Experience & Essential Skills:
