Job Description

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for obtaining authorizations and scheduling procedures in a timely manner. Must be a self starter, fast learner, work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changes quickly.
Job Duties :
Consistently maintain proper documentation within the EMR regarding the procedure authorizations & its details. Responsible for loading authorizations in the EMR, per workflow. Responsible for making outbound calls to patients to schedule surgical procedures. Responsible for managing and upkeeping surgical folders and orders. Diligently notifying and following up with patients within a timely manner regarding their surgery. Responsible for notifying vendors of appointments in a timely manner. Responsible for answering inbound phone calls in a pleasant manner. Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with external entities. Responsible for pulling and returning voicemails within 2 hours. Must schedule and update appointments appropriately and accurately. Properly updating information in the EMR. Uploading incoming records/authorizations into the patients' charts. Maintain HIPAA at all times. Request and follow through with obtaining medical clearances as needed. Scheduling and blocking out surgical time at external facilities. Coordinating physician schedules with internal and external facilities. All other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma / GED is required
Experience:
Three to five years of work experience in a medical office setting. 2 years prior procedure or surgical scheduling preferred
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of insurances. Strong office and computer skills, experience with paperless workflows. Prior use of practice management and EMR programs. Work independently while maintaining a positive attitude.
Compensation:
This is a hourly position; position and compensation is based on level of experience.
