Free short- and long-term disability insurance and life insurance 2-4 weeks of paid vacation 401K with a match Mission of role We are seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead a transportation operation consisting of more than 140 employees and a fleet of over 70 vehicles. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient airline catering transportation operations while delivering industry-leading on-time performance, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement across multiple locations Functions and Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and direct daily transportation operations by managing staffing levels, labor resources, fleet availability, and flight schedules to ensure operational readiness and on-time catering performance. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Key Ready Times (KRT), Key Delivery Times (KDT), airline Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and operational trends to achieve customer performance objectives. Champion safety and regulatory compliance by ensuring adherence to Air Fayre policies, customer requirements, LAWA regulations, OSHA standards, and all applicable safety procedures. Recruit, coach, mentor, evaluate, and develop transportation team members while driving employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives. Maintain strong customer relationships with airline partners through regular communication, operational reviews, issue resolution, and service recovery efforts. Lead operational recovery efforts during aircraft swaps, delays, weather events, equipment failures, staffing shortages, and other disruptions. Oversee fleet operations, vehicle utilization, maintenance planning, operating budgets, and asset readiness to ensure safe and cost-effective operations. Investigate and resolve operational incidents involving employees, vehicles, aircraft, customer equipment, and safety-related events. Manage transportation labor, overtime, fleet expenses, productivity metrics, and departmental budgets to drive financial performance. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, regulatory compliance, labor productivity, fleet utilization, and customer service through data-driven decision-making Qualifications & Educational Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in the airline catering industry, including transportation leadership and operational management experience. Strong knowledge of DOT driving regulations and Hours of Service requirements. Familiarity with transportation-related communications systems, dispatching software, navigation tools, vehicle surveillance technology, traffic monitoring systems, and vehicle communication platforms. College degree highly preferred. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills. Ability to manage multiple locations, large teams, and complex operational environments. Other Skills Demonstrated success improving operational performance, efficiency, and profitability. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment. Professional presence with the ability to build strong customer and employee relationships.
