Maintenance Facilities Technician Job Description This role focuses on troubleshooting, supporting, and repairing production and plant machinery while maintaining critical facility systems. The technician ensures that steam, heating, cooling, and water treatment systems operate safely and efficiently, and performs a wide range of facilities maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building upkeep within a heavy manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, support, and repair all production and plant machinery to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient operations. Coordinate and execute scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems and equipment. Diagnose and resolve issues with facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components. Maintain and service steam systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Maintain and service heating and cooling systems to support stable plant and production conditions. Maintain and troubleshoot water treatment systems to ensure proper performance and compliance with operational requirements. Perform facilities maintenance tasks, including carpentry, drywall repair, and painting, to keep the building and infrastructure in good condition. Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on facility and production equipment as needed. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in plant operations. Support HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure consistent climate control within the facility. Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to appropriate stakeholders. Work collaboratively with other maintenance and production personnel to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks efficiently. Essential Skills Hands-on experience troubleshooting, supporting, and repairing production and plant machinery. Strong electrical maintenance skills for facility and equipment systems. Experience in facilities maintenance, including building maintenance tasks. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot steam systems. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot heating and cooling systems. Experience maintaining and troubleshooting water treatment systems. Proficiency in plumbing maintenance and repairs. Experience with pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair. Experience with hydraulics, including troubleshooting and repair. HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance skills. Ability to perform carpentry tasks, including basic construction and repairs. Experience with drywall repair and painting. Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems. Ability to work effectively in a heavy manufacturing environment with high temperatures. Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.) or 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m.), including overtime as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general building maintenance, including structural and cosmetic repairs. Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment used in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical maintenance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex equipment and facility issues. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a production environment. Work Environment This position operates in a heavy manufacturing environment characterized by high heat temperatures and active production lines. The role follows structured shift schedules on 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.-6:30 a.m.), with overtime required as operational needs demand. You will work around industrial machinery, facility systems such as steam, heating, cooling, water treatment, and HVAC, and perform hands-on tasks involving electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pneumatics, hydraulics, drywall, and painting. The environment requires consistent adherence to safety practices, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, and comfort working in physically demanding conditions typical of heavy manufacturing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gardena, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
