Office of the Superintendent Waterboro, ME 04087 TRANSPORTATION
DIRECTOR
Regional School Unit No. 57 seeks a motivated and dynamic leader to serve as the Transportation Director. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all of the transportation activities for RSU #57. Reports to: Director of Finance & Operations
Overview:
The Transportation Director provides a leadership role in identifying, assessing and managing the RSU's transportation needs. This position is directly responsible for coordinating, supervising, facilitating and ensuring the completion of all tasks necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of all school district transportation. The Transportation Director's responsibilities also include the oversight of maintenance of all District owned vehicles.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications: CDL license with a pupil endorsement (or ability to obtain this certification) Prior management and leadership experience is preferred Ability to manage and supervise a large staff of employees Proven experience to multitask and work well under stressful conditions Prior experience with transportation routing software in a child transportation environment is preferred Ability to work a flexible work schedule based upon the needs of the position Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to communicate with administrators, staff, students and families Have experience in applying fair and consistent application of policies and procedures Thorough knowledge of bus operations and logistics
Responsibilities:
Establish and implement a district wide vision as well as department goals for the effective and efficient transportation of RSU #57 students Prepare, implement and manage the transportation department budget Manage a talented staff of professionals Prepare and implement efficient and effective routes for the transportation of students Oversee the maintenance of a large fleet of district owned vehicles in order to ensure the fleet is maintained in a safe and fiscally prudent manner Provide effective communication with administration, staff, students and families Coordinate and manage the oversight of student discipline matters on district owned vehicles Prepare federal and state reports as required by the appropriate oversight agency Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws as well as RSU #57 policies and procedures Facilitate the purchase of vehicles as approved by the Director of Finance and Operations Oversee various transportation contracts as well as the purchasing of fuel, supplies and services All other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance & Operations.
Terms of Employment:
Salary, work year and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $90,000 annually
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board's policy on evaluation.
