Job Description

Job Title:
Composite Technician Job Description The Composite Technician supports production by bonding and sanding composite components, assembling pipes and module boxes, and performing mechanical assembly in a dynamic startup technology environment. This role works closely with engineers to build, test, and troubleshoot composite structures and related hardware, contributing directly to product development and testing activities. Responsibilities Bond and sand composite components, including carbon fiber pipes and 3D-printed parts, to meet quality and performance specifications. Assemble pipes, module boxes, and composite assemblies according to work instructions and engineering requirements. Perform mechanical assembly tasks to support production, testing, and development activities. Troubleshoot hardware and assist in diagnosing and resolving issues with software boxes and related components. Support engineers with mechanical assembly and repair work as needed across various projects. Assemble 20-foot antennas as part of testing and simulation for development programs. Load and unload containers containing antenna parts and other production materials safely and efficiently. Handle general production, loading, logistics, and composite assembly tasks to keep operations running smoothly. Adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities in a fluid startup environment, taking on different tasks as needed. Support the transition and relocation of operations to El Segundo, including assisting with moving equipment and materials. Essential Skills Experience with bonding and sanding composite materials, including carbon fiber components. Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly within a production or general labor environment. Ability to assemble pipes, module boxes, and composite structures accurately and consistently. Experience with general production work, including loading, logistics, and handling of materials. Capability to troubleshoot and fix problems with hardware and software boxes. Comfort working in a startup tech environment with fluid priorities and evolving processes. Willingness to wear different hats and take on varied tasks to support engineering and production teams. Physical ability to load and unload containers and handle large parts, such as antenna components. Ability to support the assembly of large structures, including 20-foot antennas, for testing and simulation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a tech or defense-related manufacturing environment. Experience in composite assembly, particularly with carbon fiber and 3D-printed components. Experience supporting engineers with mechanical assembly, testing, and repair work. Flexibility to support a facility move and adapt to a new location, including relocation of tools and equipment. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a startup tech defense environment that is fluid, flexible, and fast-moving. You will work closely with engineers and production staff in a hands-on setting that involves composite assembly, mechanical assembly, loading and logistics, and support for testing and simulation activities. The facility offers a large break room, including a keg in the break room, and provides catered lunches daily. Operations will be moving to El Segundo, and you will help support this transition as part of the team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hermosa Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
