Job Description

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented, customer service-orientated Cook to join our Dietary Team! Under the director of the Dietary Supervisor the Cook uses culinary expertise to prepare and serve meals according to cycle menus, monitors methods of food handling, preparation, meal service and equipment cleaning. Directs and/or provides professional preparation of meals for guests, employees and inpatients across the age continuum as needed to facilitate the delivery of services. This position utilizes the food service process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide dietary services. The cook will need to project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of the Hospital, patient, and employees as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Food handling, preparation, and meal service for hospital. Utilizes food service process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide dietary services. Prepares and serves meals according to cycle menus. Collaborates with Dietary Team. Stocks necessary supplies, food, and ingredients for Dietary Department. Helps with dishes as needs. Keeps working space clean and sanitary. Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements. Demonstrated verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to utilize and understand mathematical calculations. Must be able to achieve Food Handler's Permit certification within 60 days of employment. Minimum 1 year experience preferred. Previous hospital/medical cooking experience highly preferred
