Compensation:

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF POSITION

Perform decontamination, deactivation, abatement, and decommissioning/waste operations (D&D/WO) assignments safely in hazard-controlled work environments (radiological, asbestos, lead, industrial, chemical hazards, etc.) by performing duties within a crew environment which is controlled by supervision, following all safety and security rules, procedures, and practices. Assumes duties as Acting Lead when assigned by management. May be designated to assist supervision as the person in charge of giving work direction to employees in their own specific classifications and/or other crafts on specific jobs. Employees in this capacity may be required to perform the work of their classification for which they have been trained and can accomplish the work safely. When designated as an Acting Lead, Senior Specialists will comply with Article 8, Section 1A.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

High school education or equivalent. Experience as a D&D/Waste Operations Specialist, Labor Grade 8 or equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

Must be able to successfully complete the training requirements of a D&D/WO Senior Specialist, Labor Grade 9 in accordance with the time limits specified in the collective bargaining agreement. Use of tools and equipment necessary to perform jobs. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / SCOPE OF WORK

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following established safe work practices and procedures; maintaining a questioning attitude; reporting identified safety concerns or situations; maintaining work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Adhere to the standards contained in the Company "Code of Ethics & Business Conduct," Company EEO practices, and DOE directives. Complete work requirements by following the supervisor's direction, policies, and procedures; obeying radiological, safety, and industrial hygiene rules. Operate various tools, equipment and systems including fork trucks, hoisting & rigging equipment, power tools, cribbing, man lifts, and utilities. Perform decontamination/contamination control tasks including waste packaging. Document actions by completing required records, data sheets, and reports. Perform work in hazard-controlled environments using radiological PPE; includes asbestos abatement. Package contaminated waste, perform size reduction, and contamination control in hazard-controlled environments. Operate cranes and hoists when qualified under site training programs. Perform decontamination tasks in radiological areas using CCTV, manipulators, tooling, and cranes. Use chemical and mechanical techniques to complete decontamination or fix contamination. Obtain samples by tell-tailing and core drilling. Isolate utilities and equipment to support D&D efforts. Support contamination control by donning/doffing anti-C clothing, constructing containment, and setting up ventilation. Support ALARA practices with shielding placement and mock-up activities. Maintain technical knowledge through training and required coursework. Assist development of lower classified D&D Operators through on-the-job training. Work within a supervised crew environment following established procedures. Assist supervisor in daily responsibilities including guiding personnel and preparing paperwork. Assume Acting Lead duties when assigned. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor. Perform other qualified work within the bargaining unit. Regular attendance is required.
