Qualifications:

• Qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required

• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, professional, and student-focused approach
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with teachers and school staff

Schedule:

• Full-time, on-site position

• 8:00 AM2:00 PM
• Work with one DHH student Head Start setting

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting services for a DHH student
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers
• Support the student's access to classroom instruction and daily activities
• Interpret classroom discussions, lessons, directions, and school-related communication as needed
• Collaborate with educators and school personnel to promote an inclusive learning environment
• Maintain professional standards and confidentiality
• Help ensure the student can fully participate in the Head Start educational experience
