Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting middle school students as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for a school located near Monmouth, OR. This position provides the opportunity to foster communication and inclusivity within an engaging educational environment. Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will help bridge communication gaps and ensure students have full access to classroom content and activities during their school day. This assignment consists of a full-time, 35-hour work week (7 hours per day). Your professionalism and dedication will make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, collaborating daily with educators, staff, and families.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and relevant interpreting skills, with experience in educational settings preferred Completion of at least two years of college (minimum 72 academic credits), an Associate's degree or higher, or successful passage of the Highly Qualified exam Ability to adapt language and interpreting to varied classroom settings and student needs Strong sense of confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability Collaborative skills to partner with faculty, administrators, and families
Core Responsibilities:
Provide sign language interpretation for middle school students during instructional periods, school assemblies, and extracurricular activities Facilitate communication between students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff Interpret various subject matters, adapting to educational language and content Maintain ethical standards of practice and ensure student privacy at all times Assist with clarification and reinforcement of information as directed by educational staff Make a difference in a student's educational journey while expanding your professional experience in a supportive school environment.
