Summary :
Waterbury Public Schools seeks an experienced and motivated Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher to join our school district. As a Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher, you will design and implement language instruction, provide support and guidance to multilingual learners, and collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment. You should be knowledgeable in language acquisition and have excellent communication skills. The Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher implements a strong instructional program for multilingual learners. They are specialists in designated and integrated English Language Development (ELD)
Responsibilities:
Design, plan, and implement English/Portuguese instruction for multilingual learners Monitor and assess student progress Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to maximize student learning Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop language programs Provide support and guidance to multilingual learners Develop lesson plans and materials to meet individual student needs Facilitate parent and community involvement Participate in and facilitate professional development activities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
CT-Bilingual cross endorsement and TESOL (111) certification
Required:
Bi-literate in Portuguese/English Knowledgeable in language acquisition Experience teaching multilingual learners Experience using a variety of teaching methods and materials Excellent communication and organizational skills Patience and understanding of cultural differences Able to work independently and as part of a team
